Chocolate and Tahini Sauce

Cacao powder and tahini are two of my greatest obsessions and what better way to combine them in a rich, luxurious chocolate sauce? 

Tahini definitely isn’t just for savoury recipes – I straight up drizzle it all over my oats and nice cream but if you’re new to it, then this sauce is the perfect way to ease you in. The bitterness of the tahini and cacao is complimented perfectly by the sweetness of the maple syrup, along with a hint of coconut from the oil too. I love this sauce drizzled on a bowl of chocolate oats, nice cream, a stack of pancakes or it would even make an amazing accompaniment for fresh berries!

Ingredients (Serves 1)

  • 1.5 tbsp tahini
  • heaping 1/2 tsp cacao powder
  • 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 tbsp maple syrup


  1. Add all of the ingredients to a small pan and set over a low heat, stirring frequently until the oil is melted and all of the ingredients are combined.
  2. If you find that your sauce is a little too thick, add almond milk to thin out to your desired consistency.
  3. Serve as desired! My favourite is on a big bowl of chocolate protein oats, swirled in to a smoothie, drizzled on nice cream, pancakes or served with freshly baked brownies!
