Ben and Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream was always my go-to dessert and guilty pleasure, so it’s only natural that I had to find myself a suitable vegan alternative. That coupled with the fact that the obsession with chocolate themed breakfasts seems to be never ending for me, meant it’s only natural that I did it in breakfast form. And trust me, this nice cream recipe is the ultimate breakfast time indulgence – with an extra chocolately twist, this double chocolate cookie dough nice cream is laced with chewy cookie dough chunks to create a plant based alternative that’s just as, if not more delicious than the original.
Whilst I am pretty obsessed with my chocolate fudge brownie nice cream, this cookie dough version is definitely rivaling it at the moment. Whilst it sounds incredibly indulgent (and very much tastes it too) this breakfast bowl is actually surprisingly healthy – frozen banana, courgette, vanilla protein powder and cacao and are blended until thick and creamy before stirring through chunks chewy chunks of cookie dough for the most addictive breakfast bowl.
For the cookie dough element I simply chop up one of my chocolate chip cookie dough energy balls – they only require 5 natural ingredients yet pack in the most incredible texture and moreish flavour which adds an extra element of indulgence to this bowl. Topped with homemade granola, berries and nut butter, this truly is the dreamiest breakfast.
I add extra cacao powder to this nice cream to create a double chocolate element which makes this bowl even more decadent, but you could always skip it and simply have the vanilla nice cream packed with cookie dough chunks, that is more reminiscent of the original but equally as delicious. Whichever way you choose to enjoy it, I don’t think there’s a better breakfast than one that puts a healthy twist on everyone’s favourite dessert.

Ingredients
For the nice cream
- 1 cup frozen courgette
- 1 large frozen banana
- 1 scoop MissFits Vanilla Protein Powder* (Get £5 off with the code YASMIN5)
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 1/2 cup nut milk
- 1 x cookie dough energy ball
For topping
- homemade granola – my chocolate pistachio flavour works perfectly here
- nut butter
- fresh and frozen berries
- chocolate chunks
Method
- Add the banana, courgette, nut milk, protein powder and cacao to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy, adding more liquid as needed.
- Chop the cookie dough energy ball in to chunks.
- Stir the cookie dough chunks through the nice cream and transfer to a bowl. Add your toppings and enjoy!
